Public Engines is the name of our company. Our products and services are designed to establish and improve two-way communications between public and elected officials and the citizens they serve.
What is the relationship to CrimeReports?
CrimeReports is a service of Public Engines. We created and own the CrimeReports brand and will be rolling out new services soon.
Where do you get crime data?
We get crime data from several sources. For daily reports, we receive information directly from participating agencies. If we have not established a relationship with a law enforcement agency, we collect data from several public sources.
How do I learn more about a specific crime in my area?
We provide as much information as we possibly can through our online interface. To learn more about a specific crime, you should contact your local law enforcement agency.

We are a small but growing company. The executive team is comprised of the following members:

How much does it cost to subscribe?
Absolutely nothing. All of our citizen-facing services are free, and we try to keep fees to law enforcement agencies low enough to be considered budget-neutral.
How do you make money?
We make money though a blend of government funding, product sales and data licensing.
